5 Steps for an Effective Framework

When engaging with AI like ChatGPT, crafting precise and clear prompts is the key to getting useful and relevant responses.

This framework helps you SCOPE what you want — with a structured approach to help you effectively communicate with AI, ensuring you get the most out of your interactions.

SCOPE: A Framework for Effective AI Prompts

S - Specify the Role

• Detail: Define the role the AI will assume (e.g., consultant, analyst, creator). This clarifies the type of thinking and approach the AI should employ to address your needs.

C - Contextualize the Scenario

• Detail: Provide background and context for the task. This helps the AI understand the environment in which it operates, enhancing relevance and precision in its responses.

O - Outline the Objectives

• Detail: Clearly articulate the goals you intend to achieve with the AI's help. Setting objectives guides the AI’s outputs towards your desired outcomes.

P - Provide Instructions

• Detail: Give clear, actionable steps. This serves as a direct instruction manual for the AI, specifying what needs to be done.

E - Establish Presentation

• Detail: Specify the format in which you want the AI's output delivered (e.g., report, list, narrative). The format affects how information is organized and presented, making it more usable for your purposes.
